Hundreds Expected At Broadland’s Largest Boat Auction

Several hundred people are expected to descend on the car park at The Bure Valley Railway Station in Wroxham on Wednesday 25^th March, for one of the highlights of the Broads community calendar – the Wroxham Boat and Leisure Auction ran by Irelands, Arnolds Keys, which is the largest such sale on the Broads.

More than 400 lots, including motor boats, sailing boats, tenders and rowing boats, outboard motors, trailers and a whole host of boating-related items will go under the hammer during the sale, which takes place twice a year.

Hundreds of dealers, Broads boating enthusiasts and private individuals are expected to attend the sale, which gets underway at 10.30am.

Among the boats up for auction are:

• A much sought-after Broom Scorpio Classic 14ft 11in speedboat, complete with 65hp outboard motor and trailer.  This classic speedboat is ideal for waterskiing, and is a real retro classic.  It is expected to make between £1,200 and £1,500.
• A 22ft International Star 6003 ‘The Swedish Job’ sailing boat, built in 1977: another classic craft, with an estimate of £500 – £700.
• A four berth Harlequin 21 Broads cruiser hull, described as an ‘ideal DIY project’.  Complete with purpose-built trailer, this boat could be an affordable way into Broads cruising for a DIY enthusiast, with an estimate of between £2,000 and £2,500.

Irelands auctioneer Tom Corfield said, “The spring Wroxham Boat and Leisure Auction is the first big Broadland community event of the year, and is eagerly looked forward to by enthusiastic individuals and dealers alike.

“With over 400 lots in the sale ranging from complete boats to a mud weight, we are expecting a very busy day.”
